Vessel Upgrade/Refit PS Waverley

Marine Electrical Engineering Ltd worked with Dales Marine Services on the electrical refit of the PS Waverley as part of the vessel upgrade and refit.

Scope of Work

  • Removal of the 2 existing steam boilers, controllers and associated wiring and fit two new steam boilers, renewal of wiring and new control panels
  • Renewal of the existing engine/alternators plus fit/wire an additional completely new engine/alternator unit
  • Assist with the removal of the existing main board and the fitting of new main board to accommodate the new set up with the additional alternator
  • Renewal of existing Oily Water Separator (OWS) in a new position
  • Removal of several pumps and motors and refit in new positions

Dales tasked Marine Electrical Engineering to remove electrical cabling and associated parts needed for the removal of the boilers, including lighting circuits, fire alarm circuits and the mains supplies be marked up and removed for the cutting out of the funnels and deck.

Removal of all cabling from the existing two Scana engines and alternators for their removal back to the main distribution panel. The disconnection of several pumps and motors to be refitted in to new locations, disconnection of the boiler main control panels and wiring to the boilers and disconnection of the existing OWS.

When the two new boilers, the new mainboard, the OWS and the three new alternators were in place, Marine Electrical Engineering ran cabling to all the new units and installed to makers men standards, these were all connected up ready for the commissioning to be undertaken. The pumps and motors were wired and tested once in their new positions.

After Dales Marine had completed the refit of the deck and the iconic funnels, the cabling was refitted/rewired where necessary, new cable tray formed and all circuits tested on completion.
