Catriona - Diesel-Electric Hybrid

The MV Catriona is the third diesel-electric hybrid vessel in the CalMac fleet, serving the Lochranza to Tarbert (Loch Fyne) route.

She runs on a combination of diesel-electric and lithium-ion battery power, reducing fuel and CO2 consumption by at least 20%. Her name comes from a novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1893.

The Catriona, came into the dry dock at Troon on the 4th of January for her annual docking for routine maintenance. Some of the tasks included: ramp work, a wash and paint, and the engines serviced, hydraulics checked and some minor hull repairs attended too.

With all works completed she was back in service by the 13th of January.
