Dales Marine Services named as a finalist in Maritime UK Awards

Dales Marine Services has been named as one of the best in the UK’s £40bn maritime sector after being shortlisted in the third Maritime UK Awards.
Dales Marine Services has been shortlisted in the Clean Maritime Enabler Award after impressing industry judges.
Dales Marine has been servicing the shipping, oil and gas, chemical, aquaculture and power generation industries with bespoke ship support and engineering services by providing specialist shipping solutions in dry dock and steelwork, maintenance and ship repair. Dales Marine is located within major Scottish ports, Aberdeen, Leith, Greenock, Troon and Grangemouth, and provides unrivalled access for clients 24/7, 365 days a year. Dales is well known for its proven ability to produce optimum results and high technical skills. As a result, Dales Marine has built up a considerable client base, including major companies in the UK and internationally.

For this project, having the support and strong working relationships with our contractors and suppliers allowed us to collaborate in finding the best solution for improving how we went about recycling or repurposing waste materials from MV Oceanic Pintail."

Decommissioning the Oceanic Pintail was a key project the business, the successful completion of the recycling the vessel has been a great achievement for the Dales Marine team. The contract for the project stipulated that 98 percent of the vessel had to be recycled. “We set out rigorous standards, which had to be met, including a target that 98% of the vessel being recycled." Dales Marine took delivery of the vessel in November 2020 and the decommissioning of the complete vessel was completed by September 2021. Dales successfully exceeded the recycling target set by the client, International Nuclear Services.
The Maritime UK Awards recognise the very best of the UK’s maritime sector, and are organised by industry, for the benefit of the industry. For the second time, the Department for Transport’s Clean Maritime Awards are to be awarded as part of the ceremony.
