FPV 'Minna' gets a little help from Dales Marine

July 2016

Marine Scotland required an emergency docking for her fishery protection vessel 'Minna'. Dales Marine Services accommodated this request at short notice and the ‘Minna’ docked at our Troon dry dock facility. We were then required to remove the main reduction gearbox for overhaul. A 4m x 3m access insert had to be cut inside the vessel to allow lowering of the gearbox to dock bottom. We then used one of our mobile cranes to assist with lifting from dock bottom and onto awaiting transport for shipping to Denmark. As there was a delay in Denmark with overhaul, Marine Scotland took the opportunity to have various dry docking repairs carried out. This included high pressure washing of hull, removal of sea grids for inspection and cleaning of sea boxes. Two ICAF anodes were removed and replaced and Hull anodes were supplied and fitted. The main shaft rope guard was removed to allow inspection and survey.

The 'Minna' is expected to stay in dry dock for approximately 8 weeks as there are further repairs required to its gearbox in Denmark. Dales Marine are scheduled to reinstall the gearbox in late August 2016.
