MV Lochinvar

The MV Lochinvar, Loch a' Bharr in Gaelic, is the second diesel-electric hybrid vessel in the CalMac fleet. She runs on a combination of diesel-electric and lithium-ion battery power, reducing fuel and CO2 consumption by at least 20%.

Her name comes from and 1808 poem by Sir Walter Scott.

The Lochinvar docked in Troon on the 10th of April for her annual maintenance checks including docking valves, ramp inspections, generator service and some unexpected steel repairs. She then undocked on the 23rd April.
