SD Impetus docks at Garvel

Serco Marine Services Azimuth stern drive tug, the ‘SD Impetus’, was built by Richard Dunstons of Hessle in 1993. It is 32m long with a 10m beam and 319grt. It docked at Garvel for 17 days. The workscope included full underwater UHP to bare steel and the application of a new paint system, tank cleaning and certification and a crew accommodation and wet area upgrade.
In addition to 2 main engine overhauls, various steelwork repairs were undertaken including bow fender removal to access steelwork damage, zinc anode replacement, a ship side valve overhaul and winch hydraulic and steelwork repairs.
